Drug Study Template

Hello Everyone,

I’m currently taking Pharmacology I right now & there is an overload of information to memorize! I didn’t think that it would be so difficult. I also thought I would be able to memorize everything, but that is just not the case. Haha. There are so many tools out there that you can use to remember the information easily, but not only do you have to know lab values, assessing the patient’s current state and condition, you have to know what medications to give the patient and why you are giving this medication to the patient even though a provider orders it, you still have to know yourself. It’s also important because we, as nursing students (or any healthcare worker who is able to administer meds) shouldn’t be administering any medication to a patient unless we are knowledgeable about the drug and it’s effects. Trust me, the patient will ask you what they are taking and why. However, we should be providing that information to them prior to administering the medication anyway.

With that being said, I had difficulty figuring out what method works for me. I am a hands-on and a visual learner (mostly hands-on), but I was just reading the information and trying to remember it. That did not work out how I wanted to and I even tried using index cards which was also a failure for me. So, I decided to just make my own Pharmacology Drug Study Template that way I am reading the material, writing the material on my guide, and I can read it back to myself (or others) utilizing the teach-back method.

I just wanted to share my template with you all and hopefully, it can help as well.

In the meantime, let me know how it works out for you, if I’m missing any information or what other tools you like to use!
